Music has long been seen as a soul-soother of sorts to help us though the hardest of times. And in recent years, with a sharper focus on mental health stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, artists and band have used their music to connect with fans in new ways.
As a result, we are now more aware of the mental health challenges people face and how those challenges make their lives harder. And while music doesn’t offer a medical solution, it does offer a spiritual solution. That’s what we are advocating for at RockMental.
We are rock music fans first and foremost. Like you, we love to jam, talk about bands new and old, analyze lyrics, go to concerts, and just soak in the mystic of rock. It gives us solace in the mess that is life knowing that others are in the same boat, also raging.
It’s not just the music, either. It’s the fans. We are a community, united in the music and in the rage. Our collective horns in the air is a symbol of unity and strength. We feed off the music and each other’s energy, whether it’s in the car, at work, or in the mosh pit.
Rock music offers a more realistic perspective of the human experience. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows, and it’s not always easy to navigate. Life sucks sometimes, like really sucks. Millions of us have experienced or are experiencing trauma, abuse, financial hardships, mental disorders, chronic diseases, and depression, with hardly a meaningful way to cope.
Chances are you are also going through some real shit right now. Let us be the first to welcome you to pit where you are not alone. You’re raging right along your fellow rockers, fighting for your right to exist and matter. Because in the pit, if you get knocked down, someone will always be there to pick you up.
At RockMental, you matter. You are loved. You are supported.
