RockMental is proud to announce a new partnership with Stack Up, a nonprofit organization dedicated in supporting US and Allied veterans by promoting positive mental health and combating veteran suicide through gaming and geek culture.
Through this partnership, our goal is to support Stack Up’s efforts by sharing resources and participating in key programs to connect directly with service members, veterans, and military families who are in need of mental health treatment and interventions. By adding rock music to the fold, we aim to grow our mosh pit community and make connections to veterans and fellow geeks alike!
“This partnership is a natural fit since rock music and gaming culture intersect in so many ways. As an Army veteran, gaming has provided me with a way to channel my experience in the military in a positive and empowering way, just like my favorite bands help me channel my own mental health challenges.” said Mayhem. “I’ve lost too many friends who I’ve served with to suicide, so this partnership is personal for me. With Stack Up’s amazing programming and research-backed approach, we are determined to ensure every veteran and service member finds a community of fellow rockers and gamers who will help them.”
Geek culture serves as a strong foundation in connecting people from across the globe in their shared interests in popular things like video games, Pokemon, and even rock music. Going against the grain can not only bring people together, it can save lives. This notion perfectly fits into our #MoshPitMentality and expands our pit to include the gaming community.
