Happy New Year, Rockers! A new year is always a time to reflect on what’s important in life and to plan out the important events that will surely define 2025.
With that, we want to share our new year’s resolutions with you and invite you to join us in making 2025 a kick-ass year!
Resolution #1: Go To Concerts
At the end of 2024, a ton of bands announced 2025 tour dates throughout the United States. These tours range from huge stadium lineups to smaller theater and arena shows.
It’s obviously great news for rock fans as the biggest names in rock will make their way across the country and North America. Here’s a list of some of the tours that will be taking place in 2025 with links to buy tickets:
- Metallica w/Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencie & Ice Nine Kills
- AC/DC w/Pretty Reckless
- Deftones w/The Mars Volta & Fleshwater
- System of a Down
- Killswitch Engage
- Bullet for My Valentine & Trivium
- Iron Maiden
- Scorpions
- Pearl Jam
- Linkin Park
- Disturbed
- Korn
- A Perfect Circle w/ Primus & Puscifer
- My Chemical Romance
- Halestorm
- Machine Head w/In Flames, Unearth, Lacuna Coil
With a lineup like this, you’ll have the chance to catch many of these bands at a show near you. RockMental will be out there as well! We’ll let you know which shows we’ll be hitting up so you can stop by and say hi. Stay tuned!
Resolution #2: Support Local and Small Bands
As much fun a packed stadium or arena sounds, it’s also equally important to support the smaller acts. Unlike headliners like Metallica, AC/DC, and Deftones, these bands don’t take in much revenue from ticket sales or door cover charges, if at all. They’ll be grinding hard to play gigs and get their music out to the world, so it’s on all of us to support them and show them some love.
The best way to get connected with these bands is to stay updated with shows at smaller venues, like theaters, amphitheaters, clubs, and bars. These shows are just as awesome and provide a more intimate experience. You can also go to a local Battle of the Bands and check out the newest artists. And don’t forget the merch table, buy a shirt and sticker and spread the love!
Get started by subscribing to these venues’ mailing lists for concert announcements and ticket sale information. Who knows, the band you see at a hole-in-the-wall bar in your hometown tonight might be tomorrow’s biggest name in rock!
Likewise, RockMental will be going to these smaller shows to support these bands and will report out the awesomeness they perform.
Resolution #3: Focus on Self-Care
For those who had a rough 2024, this year could be a new beginning in your journey. As cliched as it sounds, 2025 should absolutely provide you with a fresh perspective on life and an opportunity to take care of you.
That could look like a lot of things. Health-wise, the obvious places to start is diet and exercise. Your body and your mind have a direct bond, and taking care of one will only benefit the other. Even if its taking a walk every other day or doing some stretching in the mornings, small changes can make a huge impact on your physical and mental well-being. Metal Yoga anyone?
Another positive thing you can do is try to stop unhealthy habits. This one could be rough. These habits can be as routine as buying fast food and drinking soda, to dangerous ones like drug use and alcohol abuse. Chances are you have already thought about how to curb these habits and get yourself into recovery.
You deserve a better life in 2025 and beyond. Remember that you are not alone and there are people who want to help. Click here for resources on how to get started.
Lastly, making connections with people could also be a positive catalyst in your life. It doesn’t matter if it’s reuniting with old friends or meeting new people, these connections can help us get a new perspective of the world.
I’ll admit, this one is hard for me. Since COVID, I have really retreated into my cacoon of sorts and found social settings and events really taxing. Even eating at a restaurant has often triggered my anxiety. I’ll work on this one alongside with you to try to meet new people and meet up with old friends. Deal?
